Discover City of London's Open Spaces With 'Green To Gold'

There was hula hooping, ping pong, British Military Fitness, music and more in Guildhall Yard yesterday lunchtime to mark the launch of City of London's Green to Gold Olympic legacy project.

Despite its 'square mile' reputation, the Corporation of London is responsible for open spaces in West Ham, Queens Park, Highgate, Hampstead and Epping Forest. 'Green to Gold' aims to encourage Londoners to use their local park, heath, common or garden for health, fitness and mental wellbeing inspired by the spectre of the 2012 Games.

Did you know that Epping Forest has sixty football pitches, a public golf course and three cricket pitches with plenty of scope for walking, cross country running, cycling, horse riding, boating and fishing? Or that West Ham Park has a proper rounders pitch, running tracks, tennis courts, cricket and football pitches? And that there's a Croquet Lawn in Golders Hill Park? Or that you can train with British Military Fitness at the Honorable Artillery Company or on Hampstead Heath?

Find out more about City of London's 10,700 acres of free open spaces in and around London and watch out for special events on the website.
