Calling All Ladyboys: The Mango Tree Annual Beauty Pageant

Upscale Thai restaurant, Mango Tree, is holding its annual beauty pageant on Sunday 14 August and is looking for ladyboy contestants for the Princess category (the theme of the pageant is “Prince and Princess Royal Wedding”).

If you think you've got the right stuff (and know how to neatly tuck it away), contact Mango Tree's Marketing Manager, Oil Sirivegchakul before Sunday 7 August by calling 020 7823 1888 or emailing oil@mangotree.org.uk.

The restaurant is also seeking contestants of less sexual ambiguity to compete for the title of Prince of Mango Tree during the event.

The competition will be divided into three rounds:

  • First round: your own interpretation of the royal wedding theme with white gowns for the ladyboys and dinner jackets for the men
  • Second round: swim wear
  • Third round: evening dress for ladyboys and smart casual for men.

The winning princess will receive £500, second runner-up will win £300 and the third runner-up £200.

For admirers of the so-called third sex or folks just looking for a fun night out (Londonist had a blast covering the 09 pageant), tickets cost £15 in advance or £18 at the door. Use the contact details above to book. Mango Tree's Prince and Princess Royal Wedding beauty pageant will take place from 6.30pm to midnight with included canapes served through the evening, drag acts from Thailand and a “secret celebrity” performance.

Mango Tree is located at 46 Grosvenor Place, SW1X 7EQ.
