London Food & Drink News: 2 June 2011

A taste of what’s what in recent and upcoming London food and drink news:

A Taste of Spain returns to Regent Street this Sunday the 5th from noon to 7pm with a live “Tamborrada de San Sebastian” performance. The family friendly and traffic free festival will feature a medieval food market and more with many Regent Street retailers and restaurants creating special offers for the event. Visit www.atasteofspain.co.uk for more details.

Cinnamon Kitchen near Liverpool Street Station is having another go at offering its June canapé menu. £30 per person yields four courses of 14 canapés. Having won the Square Meal Canapé Cup two years in a row in 2009 and 2010 and having wowed the Londonist palate on a few occasions, we reckon this might be a right tasty treat to consider. Lobster momos anyone?

Restauranteur Oliver Peyton will host a dinner at Inn the Park (overlooking the pelican pond at St James's Park) on 8 June to showcase the range of small producers that supply the restaurant, many exclusively. Selected producers will also be giving a talk on the night, such as Jess Latchford from Secretts Farm who have been growing speciality vegetables and salads since 1937, and John Lean from Bickleigh Farm, producers of the acclaimed White Park cattle. This will be the first of a series of dinners and events at Peyton and Byrne restaurants. Tickets for the event cost £55 per person and include all food and drink on the night. Some tickets remain, anyone wishing to book a place should email [email protected].

The first stop in a global tour of nine cities, Singapore Takeout will deliver an opportunity to sample Singaporean cuisine with a mobile kitchen, ten chefs and 15 food brands rolling out to Southbank (near Gabriel's Wharf) on 10 June from 4pm to 7.45pm and midday onwards the following day.
