Video: The Shard From The Air

Mace, the construction firm behind the Shard, has uploaded an aerial video showcasing the nascent Southwark skyscraper.

The video was shot in late March, and is best watched with the sound muted (the bombastic music and portentous tracking shots make it look like a rejected scene from a Christopher Nolan film). It once again emphasises the tower's dramatic profile on London's skyline, a point made more forcefully by the fact that (as one commenter notes) it has been edited to avoid shots of other City skyscrapers. Well, they can't be giving out free publicity to rival developers.

Thanks to @skyscrapernews for the tip-off

More on The Shard:

The Shard begins to rise (Feb 2010)

...continues to rise (July 2010)...

...and becomes the tallest building in Britain (October 2010)

Here's how it'll look when completed in 2012

In February 2011, a fox (nicknamed 'Romeo') somehow made its way to the top

Also in Feb, artist Stephen Wilshire made some drawings of the building from memory
