Preview: LED Festival, Victoria Park

On Saturday 11th June, LED Festival will be back for round two. Bringing a dedicated dance music festival to London, it fills an alfresco hole for electronic addicts.

This year, LED has scaled back from the two-days it put on last year (Festival Friday didn’t take off with the labour force) and has concocted one electronically euphoric day. Taking place in early June, it pretty much kicks off the UK summer festival season, which obviously means the end to all seriousness for a good three-month period. Hurrah!

Last year’s launch offered a strong line-up, including techno veterans Soulwax, the ethereal Alison Goldfrapp and champions of making ceilings crumble, Leftfield. Headlining this year is deadmau5, on his first ever headline outdoor event, and indeed the only festival on English turf that he’ll be seen at this year. Ticking the boxes of trance, techno, electronics and house, his set should provide enough beats and basslines to scratch people’s dancing itch.

DJs Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and Zane Lowe will be adding to the happy festival vibes along with Drum and Bass ambassadors DJ Hype and DJ Fresh and a heavy dose of dubstep from Nero, Skrillex and Modestep.

To get you in the mood for the unofficial start of festival season, get up to speed with these girls.
