London Transport Museum: Poster Art and the River Thames

Following on from last week's opening of a new exhibition of Thames-inspired art, London Transport Museum's online shop is now offering a range of goodies featuring the winning design. Winding through the City by Anne Wilson won the Serco Prize for Illustration 2011, and can be viewed alongside over 50 other pieces of Thames art until 3 June in the CBS Outdoor Gallery at London Transport Museum.

The design is now available as a poster, place mats, mugs and coasters, shopping bags, mouse mats and travelcard holders. Click through the gallery for more details, or buy from the museum's online shop here.

Meanwhile, an illustrated talk on Saturday 21 May (3pm) by the Museum's Senior Curator Claire Dobbin will reveal how the River Thames has featured in over a century of London Transport posters: from the boat race and Henley Regatta to festivals and dockyards. Tickets: adults £8, senior citizens £6, students £4. Alternatively, visitors can purchase an annual season ticket to the Museum (which allows unlimited entry for 12 months) and get free entry to the talk. London Transport Museum’s annual season ticket costs £13.50 adults, £10 concessions. Tickets can be reserved in advance online or by phone on 020 7565 7298.

Also, for the little people in your life, the Museum’s Whitsun family fun activities take a river theme. Ship Shapes starts on 30 May and includes workshops and storytelling, and runs until 3 June.
