Before the Orange Prize winner is announced on 8 June, there are a couple of events at the Southbank Centre to get you in the literary mood.
The always popular (and bound to sell out) shortlist readings night is 6 June, where chair of judges Bettany Hughes introduces all six shortlisted authors to read and discuss their work. In case you've not been keeping intimate tabs on the Prize, those authors are Emma Donoghue for Room, Aminatta Forna for The Memory of Love, Emma Henderson for Grace Williams Says it Loud, Nicole Krauss for Great House, Téa Obreht for The Tiger's Wife and Kathleen Winter for Annabel.
Grazia and Orange join forces on 7 June for their first writers' evening. Kate Mosse chats to author Sadie Jones, and there's a writers' clinic where audience members can ask all those tricky questions about how to get published. Panel members include agent Clare Alexander, Joanna Prior of Penguin Books and first-time author, Jean Kwok, whose debut novel Girl in Translation is a New York Times bestseller.
The Orange Prize Shortlist Readings is in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Monday 6 June at 7.30pm, £12. The Orange and Grazia Writers' Evening is in the Purcell Room, Tuesday 7 June at 6.30pm, £10.
