We might not be able to pull it off, but if anyone is going to know how to wear a purple and pink 50s day dress it’s Kim Sklinar of Preloved Reloved. Since January 1 this year she has worn only second hand clothes to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, and after four months of rifling through charity stores and browsing eBay she has become a pro at separating the diamonds from the rough.
Kim teamed up with Lucy from Hummingbird Vintage and Swish and Pout to organise a Charity Vintage Swish Party on Sunday at Bar Music Hall and when we arrived scores of fashionable women were rifling through racks of dresses, lurking around the clothes swap champagne in hand, or having their hair artfully arranged by burlesque artist Miss Honey-Bare.
We managed to swap a cashmere jumper for a pair of Sass & Bide jeans, and as all proceeds went to Macmillan Cancer Support and Coppafeel, two hardworking cancer charities, it was a win-win afternoon for all.
