Starring the gorgeous Kristin Scott Thomas, Patrick from Coupling (Ben Miles) and Nick Cutter from Primeval (Douglas Henshal), Betrayal opens at the Comedy Theatre in June.
Scott Thomas plays Emma, the character at the centre of Pinter's love triangle, a story told in reverse over a period of nine years. Betryal's directed by Ian Rickson, who directed Scott Thomas in her last stage outing, The Seagull at the Royal Court; she went on to win the 2008 Olivier Awards for Best Actress for her performance.
Betrayal was last seen in London at the Donmar in 2007. The play charts the entangled relationships between Emma, her lover Jerry, and her husband Robert (who happens to be one of Jerry's friends). The play premiered at the National Theatre in 1978, and was widely reported to be based on Pinter's affair with the broadcaster Joan Bakewell during the 1960s.
Tickets go on sale today, so if you're looking for some classy theatre with big names, book now. If the £49.50 tickets seem a bit steep, and you're happy taking chances, there's a daily allocation of best, top price seats available from the box office at 10am on the day of performance costing £20 each.
