Local: Mem Morrison's High Street Takeover

Artist Mem Morrison has been recommended by Londonist before, we thought his autobiographical performance Leftovers was uplifting and involving, and the most moving experience we ever had over a full English breakfast. He's back, this time in north London, for one day only, in Local, taking place this Saturday at Ponders End in Enfield.

Local is commissioned by Enfield Council, as part of a campaign to encourage more people to use and appreciate their local high street. It's still a bit unclear what will take place on the day but interventions and performances are promised and visitors will, just by being there, find out about the shops and businesses in Ponders End, and who is behind the window displays and cash tills. Visitors will be given special Local maps and Local bags for the free afternoon event; it's a local event for and by local people, that anyone from any where can enjoy.

Local, at Ponders End High Street, EN3 4DZ, Saturday 9 April, 12pm to 3pm, free. For more information, go to the Local website. Image author's own.
