Preview: London Twestival 2011

Operating under the catchy banner of 'Tweet. Meet. Give.' Twestival Local is one night of fundraising that encourages Twits around the world to stage events for their favourite local charities. This year over 150 cities will be joining in on Thursday 24th March and the London event looks set to do our capital proud.

Taking place at the Cape, an expansive South African bar near St Pauls, the London Twestival is in aid of Centrepoint, a fantastic charity that rehabilitates young homeless people by giving them the care, knowledge and skills they need to re-engage with the world. Twestival goers will be able to see how effective the charity's work is on the night, as performer Tres B was one of the 75,000 to have been helped by Centrepoint so far.

Other highlights of the lineup include more live music from Jonathan Whiskerd and Tamra Carhart, comedy from Patrick Monahan and your own chance to entertain the crowd with mass karaoke from Lucky Voice. There will also be bar games, a chance to find out more about Centrepoint and a raffle with prizes including a Nintendo Wii, film premiere tickets and 3 months' worth of burritos from Chilango.

Tickets are just £10 and you can purchase them here. If you can't join London's Twitterati by attending on the night, however, then you can also make a donation on  Justgiving. Furthermore, it wouldn't be a social media event if you couldn't talk about it, and you can tweet your support and get the latest updates @LDNTwestival and @Twestival.
