Church Farmhouse Museum Prepares To Close

Hendon's tiny but worthy Church Farmhouse Museum will now definitely close, probably at the end of the month, according to a statement on the museum's web site. Despite low operating costs, Barnet Council have withdrawn funding, forcing the museum's closure.

The 17th Century building contains a short series of rooms kitted out to show life 200 years ago, as well as a sizeable garden and programme of temporary exhibitions. The current, and final, exhibition explores the London Underground map designed by Harry Beck.

Next weekend is probably your last chance to see this local gem (and the excellent Harry Beck exhibition).

The building's future is now unclear. However, the museum's web site suggests that a local archaeology organisation may take the space for exhibitions and courses.
