For the first time, Olympic hockey will be played on blue pitches at London 2012.

The move away from the green of natural grass is not just a branding move to get the Hockey Centre to complement the 2012 logo. Colour tests have shown that blue provides a strong contrast against the white ball and white lines for players, officials and spectators alike.

The Hockey Centre will be the only fully outdoor venue on the Olympic Park with striking views not only of the fast and furious pink and blue action but also across the site and to the Stadium and aerial shots of the Park will be pepped up by the 2 colourful pitches at the north end.

The pitches will be installed in spring 2012 and test events run 2-6 May 2012.

Have you applied for Olympic tickets yet?
