With a decision on what will happen to the Olympic Stadium after the games expected soon, Tottenham have released details of their plans for the site.
The image above shows how the 60,000 seater stadium would sit within the site, but what’s most interesting is not the stadium itself but the activity going on outside. Careful to highlight how their bid would benefit the local community, the club has presented a colour-saturated vision that depicts shiny happy figures dancing and playing volleyball, part of ”a wide range of events for the stadium and surrounding public realm”; conspicuous by their absence are beered-up football fans. Tottenham’s bid is in conjunction with AEG, and they are keen to stress that major events and concerts would be part of the package.
Last year Tottenham unveiled plans for a new stadium at Northumberland Park, near to their existing White Hart Lane ground, but their priority is now to secure the Olympic site; indeed, chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed that the club has abandoned the former project. If they don’t win the Olympic site, Spurs are likely to remain at White Hart Lane for some time.
West Ham released their own plans last month. A decision from the Olympic Park Legacy Committee is expected within the next couple of weeks.
