Although the literary world has seen its fair share of dire sequels, Londonist is pleased to note that the second annual YARN Fest looks set to match the quality of its acclaimed debut last year. Taking place between 19-23rd February, this innovative storytelling festival will be bringing a lively mix of film, theatre, music, illustration and literature to various venues in East London.
Highlights for 2011 include a literary pub quiz at the Book Club (tickets £3, including 'a free libation'), readings from -and the competition to illustrate - Hanif Kureishi's The Buddha of Suburbia at The Queen of Hoxton (£5) and a performance of former Camden literary show 'The Special Relationship' (£5) at Concrete. For those more inclined to tell stories through images there's also a chance to learn about making 'zines from professional illustrators or just let your creative side run wild in the 'Illustrationarium'.
Tickets are available now and, as none of their stimulating and entertaining events costs more than a fiver, it's definitely worth a browse through the programme.
