Last Minute Listing: Annual Wine Festival

If midweek drinking is not a taboo in your neck of the woods, you may be interested to learn that not all festivals are held in wet fields or the summer.  Restaurateur Sam Harrison's first Annual Wine Festival doesn't even need booking up months in advance through a perma-failing online booking system and, best of all, this festival dispenses with plastic pint glasses and long queues as Mr Harrison is breaking out the finest Riedel glassware (us neither, but it sounds posh) and holding the festival at his two venues in Chiswick and Balham for four events over the next month.

Tonight, you have the choice of an introduction to wine tasting with Tom Gilbey of new London wine merchants The Vintners, where Tom will take you through eight different wines while talking about the effect of wine growing and making on the final result, or a wine tasting with Mike Herrick from New Zealand's Mt Difficulty Wines.  Other events will be held on March 1st and 15th.
