Comedy Preview: Comedy Rush @ Shaftesbury Theatre

You can currently sell a minute of your life for a quid down Brixton Village market. Seems minute marketing is all the rage as 60 comedians line up to punt you their puns in 60 second slots at Comedy Rush this Thursday.

There's definite danger of fun times overload and total comic immunity given such a quick succession of poised to amuse acts and yet this is the 10th anniversary of Comedy Rush, an apparently foolhardy concept born our of the festival madness of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Plenty of names that we know are lined up to roll through the 'Rush which takes the 'variety show' concept to extremes. This week tempts with Brendon Burns, Lucy Porter, Robin Ince, Howard Read, Terry Alderton, Simon Munnery, Mike Wozniak, Andrew Maxwell and Pappy's Fun's Club, hosted by Rufus Hound. The March gig dangles Scott Capurro, Rob Rouse, Paul Foot, Phil Nichol and Miss Behave before you, with plenty more punsters and performers to be confirmed.

Who will stick in your mind after 60 x 60 second acts all eager to tickle your funny bone?

Comedy Rush is at the Shaftesbury Theatre on Thursday 24 February and Thursday 24 March at 7.30pm. Tickets £26+ booking fee.
