Strikes To Hit Tube And DLR

Some more strike dates for your diary:

Tonight, at 9pm, members of the RMT will begin a 24-hour walkout on the Bakerloo and Northern lines, over what the union calls "victimisation" of two workers. The RMT says that the drivers were sacked due to their union activities; London Underground counters that both were dismissed due to their conduct on the job.

The RMT have also announced that their members on the Docklands Light Railway will strike next week. A 48-hour stoppage will begin at 4am on Thursday, January 20th, and conclude early on Saturday.

The row between operator Serco and the union stems from disagreements over potential redundancies and a new roster, with Bob Crow accusing management of "total disregard for proper negotiation". We're not sure how calling a strike demonstrates a regard for proper negotiation, but that's the quiddity of Mr. Crow for you.
