GB Handball Team Confirmed To Compete In Olympics

The British Olympic Association have announced that Team GB will field Handball teams in the 2012 Olympics.

Following a strong showing in 2008, handballers were hopeful of competing in the Olympic arena but needed the blessing of the BOA to ensure they were up to scratch to take up the host country places.

Not only did the men and women's teams need to prove they could put in a credible Olympic challenge but also lay the foundations for a strong legacy post 2012. In November 2010 British Handball signed an agreement with GLL and the Olympia Handball Club to create a new high performance centre at Crystal Palace to create the next generation of handball players.

Did you know? Following our post about Beach Volleyball earlier, apparently there is a emerging beach version of handball too.
