    £90 each isn’t really all that expensive for half decent meeting room chairs. I’m sure you can find ones cheaper in ikea etc but you need ones that will last, be comfortable for long periods of time, come in versions with arms. an hopefully be repairable and replaceable (so from a manufacturer that will guarentee to be suppying them in a few years)

    Your average office chair cost around £200, certianly no less than £100 for anything you expect to last.

    I really hate news like this, it does no-one any good whatsoever.

      Totally agree. As it says in the article: “The decision to purchase was due to safety concerns with the older ones which did not comply with British Standards and were becoming unstable.”

      Would those who have complained prefer that councillors and members of the public simply sued the council for their injuries when they sit on a chair that collapses under them?
