Evacuee Week on Exploring 20th Century London

Operation Pied Piper is the focus of Exploring 20th Century London's second audio slideshow.

It's a refreshingly low tech affair again, telling the story of the thousands of children evacuated from London during World War II. Find out what was on every child's packing list, take a look at the luggage label tied to their coats and consider the wrench of separation from your parents at an impressionable age, and the varying fortunes of the evacuees.

The show uses photos, artwork, posters and artefacts from the many museums participating in this online modern history project illuminated by a friendly narrator. The show takes a matter of minutes but is gently enjoyable and a great way to absorb nuggets of history online.

Exploring 20th Century London's first audio slideshow was about Suburbia.
