The Twelve Drinks of Christmas at the Waldorf Hilton

What would a liquid Partridge in a Pear Tree taste like and how tipsy would it make you? If this is the sort of alcho-pondering that preoccupies your festively seasoned mind then you might want to slide into the Waldorf Hilton's cocktail bar for a Yuletide tipple.

As tasty as it is gimmicky, a limited drinks menu inspired by the classic “The Twelve Days of Christmas” carol has been created by the bar folk at the Waldorf. All 12 cocktails have their merits, some more than others. Our faves? It's close between the Three French Hens (Appleton Estate Rum, Advocat, Kahlua and cinnamon and garnished with a cinnamon stick) and the Six Geese A-Laying (Appleton Estate Rum, Martini Rosso, Frangelico, Amaretto, sugar syrup and fresh cream and topped with hazelnut bits). Both are winter warmers, textured and yummy. If rum's not your thing, might we suggest (sing it with us) Five Gold Rings (Goldschlager, port wine, butterscotch and apple juice)?

At 12 quid a pop, you might be not be able to give the complete dozen a proper go, but one or two cocktails should do the trick for all but the most liver-despising imbibers.

The Waldorf Hilton is located on Aldwych, WC2B 4DD (but word is these drinks will be available at four Hilton locations in London as well as 16 hotels nationwide … and for only £9 each outside the M25). Visit www.waldorfhilton.co.uk for more info.
