The week ahead in literary London

Wednesday: Captain of the Rant hosts Apples and Snakes's Jawdance at Rich Mix, with Comfort – Art Without Apology, Superbard, Segge Dan and Melinda Deathgoth (7.30pm, free).

Justine Picardie heads to Daunt Books in Chelsea to discuss her biography of Coco Chanel (7pm, £5).

Put your thinking Santa hats on for the Big Green Bookshop's Christmas literary quiz (7pm, £5 per team).

Thursday: Penned in the Margins presents James Wilkes, Holly Pester and Hannah Silva investigating vocal stress fractures at Whitechapel Gallery (8pm, £6).

Friday: Charlie and Lola creator Lauren Child is popping into England's Lane Books at 4pm to sign copies of her new book.

Richard Evans, Jon Stone and Kirsten Irving, with music from Tim Hoyte, are raising money to help a woman with cancer, at the Poetry Cafe (8pm, £5).

Bob Goody and Andrew Cuthbert are the Bloomsbury Bards at the Map Cafe in Kentish Town (7.30pm, £7).

Saturday: Phill Jupitus signs copies of his new book at the Big Green Bookshop from 1pm.

Sunday: Leah Fritz introduces William Oxley and Todd Swift at Torriano Poets (7.30pm, £5 / £3).

Monday: Stephanie Gerra, Wendy Shutler and guest poet Tim Murdoch are the Bloomsbury Voices at the Poetry Cafe (8pm, £6 / £4).
