Christmas charity card shops are now open for business across the capital (well, across the northern half, at any rate...oh, and Bromley). The stalls, with volunteer staff, sell cards on behalf of around 300 UK charities, with 100% of profits going to good causes - everything from cancer research to overseas development. The scheme, now nearly 30 years old, is organised by Card Aid.
