Smile For London: Call For Submissions

smileforlondon.jpg It’s only just got dark and proper wintry so forgive us for looking prematurely ahead to the January blues but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Smile For London is a campaign to bring positive, thought provoking, grin encouraging silent short films to London Underground’s digital screens in the New Year.

From 17th January 2011 Smile for London will take over the platform screens for two weeks on weekday mornings with a creative intermission; a programme of film, art and animation, exhibiting the best of London’s emerging and established artistic talent.

This is where you come in. The project needs submissions: “The brief is to create a twenty second silent piece of moving image with a view to pushing the boundaries of the medium.” Like this. This is lovely:

The bar has been set high! Browse other submissions for inspiration. The submission process is open to all, and successful applicants will see their work showcased alongside respected artists and film makers. The deadline for submissions is 3rd December 2010. Winning pieces will be selected by an online vote as well as by industry experts. More of that anon.
