About 11,500 fragments of Roman pottery, 100 coins and jewellery, as well as human remains, have been uncovered by archaeologists excavating Syon Park. The 2,000 year old farming village, by a road leading west from Londinium, has been preserved a few feet below the surface by parkland surrounding the Duke of Northumberland's London home. Experts from the Museum of London Archaeology are puzzling over bodies found in ditches, but Bronze Age artefacts also found on site mean these burials could be from an earlier period.
