The DCMS wants to end funding for the Horniman, Geffrye and Design Museums by 2015, according to the Department's Business Plan. Along with five other non-national museums, the government wants to find new sponsors to take over. This news caused an initial wave of panic that museums could close if no new funding arrangements could be identified, but the DCMS clarifies they won't cut any museum adrift and the Horniman also says it has four years of cash already ring-fenced. Anybody wanna sponsor a museum? It's the Big Society in action, dontchaknow. (Photo / mcfarlandmo)
