Fresh Tube Strikes Start Tonight

The third in an unwelcome trilogy of Tube strikes begins tonight. Here's what you need to know:

Strikes begin at 7pm, when maintenance workers walk out.
  • Full-on, hardcore strikes begin at 9pm, when other workers join them.
  • Expect around 40% of services to be running, with many station closures.
  • TfL are putting on extra buses and boats, and nixing some roadworks.
  • Service should be back to normal by Thursday morning.
  • Tonight's weather, in case you're walking/cycling, is likely to be cloudy but dry, 13-14 degrees.
  • A fourth strike is planned for 29 November.
  • The strikes are by members of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA) and Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, who are disgruntled at planned reductions in the number of ticket office staff and station managers.
