Try Feuerzangenbowle (German Mulled Wine) @ Zeitgeist

feuerzangenbowler2small.jpg As the evenings start to get darker and colder, a post-work pick-me-up is all the more important. A glass of warm, spicy mulled wine is hard to beat but German pub Zeitgeist in Vauxhall is going a step further.

Zeitgeist @ The Jolly Gardeners - to give it its full name - will be bringing the feuerzangenbowle to London. Easier to drink than it is to pronounce, feuerzangenbowle is simply a German version of mulled wine served in a large, heated punch bowl over which a block of rum soaked sugar is burned allowing it to slowly drip into the wine.

The feuerzangenbowle will be available at Zeitgeist this Thursday and then every Thursday until the end of the month. And if an excuse to indulge was needed, you’ll be doing your bit for charity if you do. The Pall Mall Rotary Club has put on the event, and all proceeds will go to their causes. Tickets are £10 on the door and include two glasses of the wine.

The lighting of the feuerzangenbowle starts from 6pm, and whether it's the charity or the wine, you're guaranteed to leave with a warm fuzzy feeling. Zeitgeist is at 49-51 Black Prince Road, SE11 6AB.
