All startups will be assimilated. The Borg are coming to Old Street. That's if plans by local architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris get the go ahead. This cubic monolith will stand on the corner of Old Street and City Road, opposite the recently completed Bezier Buttocks (pictured left).
The scheme apparently replaces approved plans by Squire + Partners for a slender tower on the site, although the only source we can find is a Skyscrapernews article that doesn't even say what the building is for (mixed use office and residential, we surmise).
The article does, however, win a biscuit for describing the plans as 'harking back to the sort of Sixties modernism that people are queuing up to demolish in other parts of London'.
Resistance is futile.
