Continuing our amble round London's independent bookshops

It's time to lay to rest the idea that comics are for nerds, and the best place to stage this final showdown is Gosh Comics. It's an understated shop opposite the British Museum, selling graphic novels and comic books since 1986. The stock is a diverse range - we saw 'proper' comics old and new, manga, kids' books and those existentialist philosophers Calvin and Hobbes - to appeal to a broad swathe of people. Officially they focus on work that's literate and interesting, but their unofficial buying policy is to fill the shelves with stuff that's "generally awesome". We like that.

Gosh Comics, 39 Great Russell Street, WC1. Images author's own. Know a good bookshop? Email us at hello [at] londonist.com.
