Thames Barrier To Teddington: Party, Prizes & Private View

Around 150 people flocked to admire the Thames Barrier to Teddington exhibition on Friday night. Serenaded by Dylan Summers on the grand piano, bloggers, photographers, Londony types, Londonist contributors, friends and family converged on Foyles and got it trending on Foursquare for the first time ever. Such is our collective social media power!

Judges Simon Baker of Tate, Mike Seaborne of Museum of London and Brett Jefferson-Stott of Shoot Experience selected five fine photographs for special commendations. However, our guest speaker, Paula Middlehurst of Sky News, was spot on when she noted that whilst the judges picked beautiful and technical shots, all the photos deserved recognition. The chosen pictures tell true stories reflecting the authentic experience of living and working in and around the Thames. They span the beauty, dirt and pollution and capture the people, industry, leisure and transport that are integral to London’s riverscape.

Congratulations to all the photographers whose work made it to the wall and a huge thank you to everyone who submitted photos to help us map Thames Barrier to Teddington.

    A great evening and some lovely photos, though I never quite understood what Paula Middlehurst of Sky News was doing there…

      Two of our judges couldn’t stay for the whole evening and Brett – despite his handsome dicky bow tie – wasn’t quite prepared to do all the talking. So Polly very kindly agreed to come along and add a bit of presentery flair to the proceedings. Which I was hugely grateful for!
