Happy Birthday BBC London 94.9

bbclondon.jpg Proving that video really didn't kill the radio star, the 40th anniversary of the Beeb's London radio station will be celebrated today with a lunchtime classic clips show presented by airwave legend, Tony Blackburn. Now known as BBC London 94.9, the station has been providing local radio to our mega city for four decades. A rebrand to GLR (Greater London Radio) in 1988 reflected its expansive reach and brought us the brilliant Danny Baker. A further rebrand and a move to Marylebone High Street in 2001 gave us BBC London in its current form, neatly aligned with sister services on telly and online.
