Many would agree that, since winning the bid for the 2012 Olympics, London hasn't exactly covered itself in glory when it comes to marketing and design.

Which is a shame, as Britain is home to some talented designers. Take Alan Clarke. Drawing inspiration from the justly celebrated examples of London Underground poster design in its pre- and post-war heyday, Clarke has fashioned a series of navigational posters to help guide visitors and locals to the various Games venues.

Sadly, the posters were created as part of a degree project, and aren't likely to be used by TfL.

These are beautiful - we could do with some classy marketing for 2012 after that horrible logo.

Agreed. Simple and effective. LOCOG could get a major PR win by snapping up this talent.

These are brilliant.

I agree, there're fantastic graphic pieces.
There's elements of the Mexico and Munich Olympic brands in them - two which are remembered as design classics.

Have tried to create two more, for athletics and swimming:

Indeed, and well worth flagging up again, as it seems a lot of people (including us) missed them first time round.

These are fantastic, it's a shame of the copyright issues surrounding the usage of the olympic rings.
