The relentless progress of Western Europe's tallest building continues apace. Over the past week, the main core of the Shard at London Bridge appears to have sprouted a second, thinner core, thrusting on up towards the sunlight. The number of floors is painted on with each advance, and currently stands at 43. That means we've reached roughly the half-way point, as the final floor count will be 87 (including radiator floors). The Shard already dominates the South Bank. Picture it twice as tall, reflecting the sunset from its angled glass cladding, and it's clear what a landmark and symbol for our city this building will one day become. Onwards and upwards.
