Preview: The E17 Art Trail

welcomee17.jpg If the origins of Walthamstow really do lie in 'welcome place' then etymology has never been so apt as the E17 Art Trail opens today, inviting everyone to go exploring the infamous boy band postcode.

There are exhibitions galore for serious looking and plenty of previews and parties for more frivolous schlepping. The Big Screen in the town square will be screening artist films addressing community issues and open studios invite you in to inspect the artist at work. Two by two ten minute storytelling in a giant rabbit hutch in Vestry House Museum Garden has to be our favourite listing so far.

If you're stuck for how to attack the trail there are walking tours, a cycle trail and tour and hop on hop off bus trips. Or you can just get hold of the Art Trail Guide and make your own shambling way however you like.

The E17 Art Trail opens today and runs until 12 September.
