The biggest sparks flew from the Tottenham boardroom, where transfer dynamo Harry Redknapp and his cohorts remained furrowed of brow late into the evening, trying to secure the services of Dutch midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart from Real Madrid. At a mooted £8 million, the World Cup finalist would be something of a bargain. Spurs made their move after the player's £18 million transfer to Bayern Munich collapsed, yet it's not certain yet whether the north Londoners got their man: the Premier League is looking into the matter this morning.
Spurs aside, fans of London's twelve other professional clubs have precious few new names to make up chants for. Here's the list as of Wednesday morning; we'll update it as and when last-gasp announcements filter through over the next day or so. And if we've missed anybody out, or if you're a fan looking to vent about why your team failed yet again to sign a decent goalkeeper, then drop a line in the comments (don't worry, Arsène probably doesn't read this blog).
