Watch out for AXA's 'Respect the Road' Cab Cam
With greater numbers of us considering cycling with the advent of the Cycle Hire scheme but with traffic showing no signs of abating, respect on the road is a real concern. Boris Biking doesn't demand a helmet and with rapid expansion, there will be more and more riders who aren't sure of the roads and haven't properly cycled since their teeny BMX days. Tension between cyclists and motorists is a perennial issue, let alone tension between motorists on our busy streets. Seeking to find out what Londoners think about road rage and ways to change motorists' behaviour, AXA sent out their 'Cab Cam' and got them chatting from the back seat. 'Mayor Kevin' here is keen on pedestrianisation (do you think he looks like Boris, by the way?)
This 'Road Rage Kids' video – which use some scarily convincing enraged 5 year olds getting agro with each other at a junction snarl up – helps to illustrate just how quickly and stupidly road rage can escalate. So, what can you do? Visit the I Respect The Road Facebook page and hit their 'Like' button to share your driving and road rage experiences now. Browse the 'strange road usage' gallery and watch some more back seat video commentary from the AXA Cab Cam. Keep your eyes peeled for the cab – it's out and about on London streets now – so hail it and let off some steam about near misses, shouting matches and risky roads.
