Now Boarding: Flight BA043 To London (Birmingham)

2301_plane.jpg Having grown wearily accustomed to considering (for aviation's sake) Luton and Stansted as part of the capital, could Birmingham be the next conurbation roped into London's orbit? Not quite, despite the Telegraph's excitable sub-editors. Birmingham Airport's chief executive is, however, touting his facility's potential to alleviate pressure on London's existing suite of airports. With the third runway at Heathrow cancelled and the island airport stuck firmly in Boris' blond bonce, and if the mooted 38-minute high speed link between Birmingham and Euston were realised, passengers might learn to see the benefit of taking off from Brum. A Balti and jaunt round that space-age Selfridges sure beats a limp sandwich and shopping in Terminal Four.
