Transport Secretary Theresa Villiers spent yesterday visiting the new Blackfriars station with Network Rail execs, and to accompany her trip, the rail company were good enough to release some pictures of how it will look when finished.
The station (which may not re-open with the same name) will have its platforms positioned above the Thames — a first for London — in order to accommodate longer trains, and will also get a new entranceway on the South Bank.
Blackfriars will be completed in spring 2012, and the mainline station will remain open throughout, except for a two month period from November 20th this year until January 11th. The Underground station remains closed until the end of 2011.
