Presumably prompted by Tottenham's decision to ban the plastic instrument popularised during the World Cup, several other top-flight London clubs have announced that the ubiquitous, incessant droning sound is unwelcome (or at the very least confined to the commentary booth). Arsenal, West Ham, and Fulham have joined Spurs in declaring their stadia vuvuzela-free zones. In the Championship, Millwall have also banned them, and Crystal Palace are expected to follow suit. However, fans heading for the Community Shield between Chelsea and Manchester United in a couple of weeks will get a chance to blow their horns at leisure: the FA has said that they would be permitted for the match at Wembley Stadium.
