Created by Bootstrap, a local training and enterprise organisation, the Dalston Roof Park is “a new green space in an area of very few”. The building’s roof has been covered with grass and dotted with deckchairs. Grow bags made from recycled waste have been planted around the edges, and the aim is to touch on those zeitgeisty subjects of sustainability and food self-sufficiency whilst giving local folk an arcadian respite from the mad bustle of E8 down below.
A series of workshops and events are planned, including film screenings, yoga sessions, BBQs, and fetes — keep an eye out on the website for more details. The Park will also have a licensed bar when all the paperwork is completed.
To apply for membership (which costs £5), fill in the form on this website.
Dalston Roof Park is on the top floor of the Print House, 18 Ashwin Street, E8 3DL, and is open until September.
