Stella McCartney has been named the creative director for Team GB's clothing range, and wlll oversee the design of athletic garms and "fan wear" (ie, the stuff you wear whilst lazing around on the sofa) for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic teams. "As a British fashion designer it is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity", said McCartney, whose designs will be manufactured by Adidas, a company that she has worked with since 2005. Beside her nous for athletic clobber, McCartney also has a solid track record for causing a ruckus when her clothes hit the stores, a useful trick that might help top up those ever dwindling Olympic coffers.
