Spurs Move To Ban Vuvuzela

1910_tottenham.jpg In a blow to what is slowly becoming Africa's most famous cultural export, Tottenham Hotspur has decided to ban the vuvuzela from its White Hart Lane ground, claiming that the flimsy plastic instrument poses a risk to public health and safety. The concern is that, faced with a wall of noise that Phil Spector would be proud of, fans wouldn't be able to hear those all-important public announcements that crop up throughout a football match, which dispense salient information about goalscorer, attendance, etc. In a statement, Spurs defended the decision by saying that they were "very proud of the fantastic atmosphere that our supporters produce organically at White Hart Lane"; they might not feel the same way next time one of those homophobic chants aimed at Sol Campbell springs up around the stands.
