District and Hammersmith & City Line Disruption

District line services between Dagenham East and Plaistow, and Hammersmith & City line services between Whitechapel and Barking are currently suspended. A fire at Barking Station on Friday destroyed dozens of 50 year old cables - the intense heat melted them. Specialist engineers had to be called in, working round the clock to trace the cable routes and replace them. "A reduced service is operating between Whitechapel and Plaistow and Upminster and Dagenham East on the District line. A bus replacement service is operating between Plaistow and Dagenham East." However, all services on the District line are affected and services on the Circle line are also suffering. Check TfL for updates before you travel. Full service should be restored by Wednesday.
