Sunday's Bastille Day celebrations, by sukesukesue
As any Francophile (or for that matter, French person) will know, today is Bastille Day - France's national holiday. Following Sunday's garden party in Battersea Park, the environs of Borough Market and Bankside have been going Bastille-bonkers (sorry) today, with a vast array of local bars, restaurants and businesses celebrating all things Gallic. Some of the area's festivities will be continuing for a few more hours yet; it's worth a quick look if you happen to be in the area.

On a similarly appropriate cross-channel theme, an exhibition of photographs from French New Wave cinema, all taken by legendary photographer Raymond Cauchetier, opened today at the James Hyman Gallery on Saville Row. Featuring photos taken on the set of Jean Luc Godard's A Bout de Souffle (a.k.a. Breathless), amongst others, La Nouvelle Vague runs until 28th August. Entrance is free.
