The Book Club Boutique Throws Mock Wedding With Literary Twist

Whether you’re sick to the back teeth of all things bridal or praying your partner will pop the question, the Book Club Boutique is holding a wedding party with a difference this Friday from 7pm.

If you like your decadence intellectual, you might have come across these literary libertines before - hosted by Salena Godden, dubbed “the Mae West of the salon scene” by the Sunday Times, it’s a riotous mix of spoken word, smoky jazz and complete and utter filth.

Get Hitched! Get Committed!’ is a twist on the usual (already pretty twisted) proceedings - as well as readings, music and general debauchery, someone’s getting married.

Although buried deep in the bowels of the press release are assurances that said wedding won’t be legally binding, attendees are promised a “brilliant and bad best man”, wedding speeches and a free cocktail on arrival at the venue, the historic House of St Barnabas.

Get Hitched! Get Committed!, Friday 2 July, The House of St Barnabas, 1 Greek Street, Soho. Starts 7pm. £6 members/£8 newbies, with a percentage of the fee goes to the House of St Barnabas Charity.
