Summer Of 69 Roadworks

It's a wonder there's any tarmac left when we hear that apparently 69 holes in the road per mile in central London will be dug during the year. It's all gone a bit quiet since Boris Johnson admitted that the roadworks were getting the better of him, and it seems that trying to co-ordinate works done by the privatised utilities is something akin to herding cats. Mind you, what with turning football pundit and discussing the pros and cons of the vuvuzela at the Olympics, the mayor probably hasn't got much time left time to look into holes. Photo by steve_w
