Dancing City, 3 July, Canary Wharf

Continuing its exploration of the elements, GDIF returns this Thursday on the theme of Earth, stretching to 10 glorious days of free arts festival. Bowled over by the huge programme, we picked out a few highlights:

  • Greenwich Park hosts opening night on Thursday with Gravity, a dance extravaganza in the grounds of the National Maritime Museum and culminating in fireworks (10pm).
  • Sky diving meets water ballet in Royal Artillery Square, Woolwich, on Saturday night with Voala (9.45pm).
  • The Garden of St Alfege will see Strange Fruit swaying on poles above a contemporary Garden of Eden, Thurs 24 - Sunday 27 June (check brochure for times)
  • Lo Monstre - a mechanical dragon - prowls Monument Gardens at the Old Royal Naval College on Sat 26 - 26 June (1.45 & 4.15pm).
  • The Next Level makes parkour look like childsplay in Cutty Sark Gardens on Thurs 1 and Fri 2 July (7.30 and 10pm).
  • Dancing City transforms Canary Wharf on Saturday 3 July with performances of all genres popping out of unexpected places (1-5pm).
  • GIDF runs 24 June - 4 July and it's ALL FREE. Browse the brochure online and have a look at GDIF past coverage on Londonist.
