Clowns and undertakers! A gypsy horse circus! A man dressed as an orang-utan! Excuse the prodigious use of exclamation marks but we believe this is a truly must-see production.

Footsbarn Theatre, a travelling theatre company which has been touring for nearly 40 years in every continent, has joined forces with Pierre Byland and Cirque Werdyn (the aforementioned gypsy horse circus) to bring an evening of burlesque anarchy for the whole family to Victoria Park.

The basic premise of the show is a collision of a solemn funeral service for a famous classical composer with a gypsy wedding and, from a few glimpses of the press photos, it looks like the audience are in for an aural and visual treat.

Their last production of Midsummer Nights Dream in the same location took place in wintry November so this is a chance to catch their carnivalesque production in a (hopefully) more balmy environment.

Footsbarn’s Sorry!, Victoria Park, Grove Road, Tower Hamlets, E3 (Royal Gate East entrance) runs till 4 July. Tickets: £7.50-20.00 from Barbican box office, 0845 120 7550.
